How Amazon FBA fees work
Amazon takes a referral fee on every sale, set by category and often tiered by price. On top of that, FBA charges a fulfillment fee based on your size tier, shipping weight, and a price band, plus monthly storage per cubic foot. Sell yourself with FBM and the fulfillment and storage fees drop away.
The calculator subtracts these fees and your cost to show profit, margin, and ROI per unit. It covers standard-size, non-apparel items and leaves out advertising, returns, inbound placement, aged inventory, and peak season surcharges, so treat the output as an estimate.
Frequently Asked Questions
What fees does the Amazon FBA calculator include?
It estimates the referral fee for your category, the FBA fulfillment fee for your size tier and weight, and monthly storage. It then subtracts your product cost to show profit, margin, and ROI per unit.
How is the FBA fulfillment fee determined?
Amazon sets the fulfillment fee by product size tier, shipping weight, and a price band: under $10, $10 to $50, and over $50. The calculator reads the matching rate and adds the fuel and logistics surcharge.
What is not included in the estimate?
The estimate leaves out advertising, returns processing, inbound placement, aged inventory, and peak season surcharges. It covers standard-size, non-apparel items, which is where most sellers start.
What is the difference between FBA and FBM here?
FBA adds Amazon fulfillment and storage fees because Amazon ships the order. FBM, where you ship yourself, drops those two fees and leaves the referral fee plus your own shipping cost.
